The Montessori method has become increasingly popular in recent years due to the focus on child centered learning. The classroom environment is welcoming and the materials are meticulously designed and beautiful. Every activity has direct aims and indirect aims (direct aims satisfy the need in the present moment and indirect aims anticipate a need that will arise soon) so that your child can be preparing themselves for future pieces of work without realizing.

 

The T-shirts cannot provide the same in depth learning experience as true Montessori materials but they follow a similar principal. The T-shirts mostly focus on recognition, imagination and vocabulary.

 

The T-shirts are based on several of the core activities found in any Montessori classroom. They span the Language, Mathematics, Geography and Sensorial areas of the classroom.

  • 'The T-shirts are designed to be plain and to the point. Additional images, colours and decorations would distract from the purpose of these T-shirts which is to help children learn and interact with what is on their front.'

  • 'The T-shirts are designed to educate and entertain. They are not intended to be a primary teaching resource.'

  • 'Everything is designed and flipped so that the child can recognize words and images by themselves. All images and writing is below the mid point to avoid neck strain.'

QR Code Technology

There is a QR code on the bottom corner of the T-shirt that links to The Little Light Bulb Company website. On the website there is a list of games and activities for each T-shirt; some activities are universal and can be played using any of the designs, others are specific activities which only pertain to that individual T-shirt.  

There are more options for some T-shirts than others depending on the content. Most activities only require the T-shirt, but some do suggest pencils and paper, this will be noted in the activity instructions.
